My introduction to real estate began at 23 when I purchased my first home. I was immediately seduced by the exhilaration of buying property, the initial nervousness followed by the elation when securing it. This began a lifelong passion for the industry, and since then I’ve owned, managed, bought and sold my own properties and engaged in numerous property developments.
The motivation for establishing Smarte Real Estate came about from my time working as a finance officer for a major bank. For over 15 years I was responsible for helping clients secure finance for their property aspirations. I met many first-time homebuyers as well as seasoned investors and property developers. Having a passion for real estate, I was always interested in my client’s respective thoughts on the market and property trends, and their general experiences in the industry. While it was interesting to listen to their stories, a common grievance was consistently raised. They had found the levels of service from their respective property professionals to be lacking. The grievances that were commonly cited included a lack of communication, transparency, poor response times for enquiries that they had, actioning of maintenance works and unrealistic maintenance costs for property management, high commission rates and a general sense of indifference to their needs and expectations. I found their comments reflected my own and mirrored my own experiences.
My genuine want to help my clients together with my passion for the real estate industry I was confident I could address these shortcomings to give buyers and sellers a superior level of service they deserve. Having spent a large part of my professional career looking after and securing the interests of my clients, I’ve always prided myself on, and received countless compliments and recognition for my services. I knew I could bring this to the market and offer it as a point of difference.
As the proprietor and principal of Smarte Real Estate I now have the opportunity to help my clients realise their respective property dreams and share in their successes. Seeing my client’s enthusiasm and satisfaction when selling or buying a home is one of the biggest perks of my job and why I consider myself so fortunate to love what I do.
